“Australian and Kiribati Teams Collaborate to Tackle Avoidable Blindness through Trachoma Project”

The Australian government, through The Fred Hollows Foundation, collaborates with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to combat avoidable blindness by tackling trachoma as a public health issue. This month, representatives from Fred Hollows visited Kiribati to train new project staff, enhance financial management and accounting skills, and advance planning for the upcoming year. Upcoming activities include initiatives to improve facial cleanliness and the environment across Tarawa and the outer islands, surgeries to treat trachomatous trichiasis (which can cause blindness if untreated), and planning based on the results of the latest prevalence survey conducted in May. ...............
