A connected block of 12 buildings owned by the Kiribati Housing Corporation in Labourline, Bikenibeu Village, was accidently engulfed in flames yesterday afternoon, resulting in significant damage.
According to a report from one of the tenants, five of the buildings were completely destroyed, with only the cement structures remaining. The sixth building was partially burned and is now uninhabitable.
All affected tenants have relocated to stay with their families while awaiting further decisions regarding their accommodation.
However, the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
